Music is...
Music is everywhere. There is no place in the world that does not have some form for music. Unquestionably, it is essential to society, and therefore, it is critical to learn about the different world cultures and their music. Further, music reflects the way people think, the way they act, and the way musicians and audience members connect with each other. Music helps define identities. Music not only helps establish the identity of an individual, but it also helps establish the identities of communities. Music shapes social structures within societies and the behaviors of people. Therefore, music is universal. Music is a common language, so all people must take time to understand the music around them in order to see the powerful harmonic connection that is taking place between all human beings. Music is communication. Definitely, it helps people connect with others around them. Most important, music is a symbol and an agent of identity for many.
